The actual palm part of the acai is called the stem and is sometimes used in salads. The acai palm is used for more reasons that consuming for health and vitality. Acai palm has some other more general uses as well. According to wikipedia, the leaves from the acai palm tree “may be used for making hats, mats, baskets, brooms and roof thatch for homes, and trunk wood, resistant to pests, for building construction”(Silva, 2005).

You can grow acai palm yourself but you will need prestine conditions. The Brazilian ecostructure is the perfect ecological setting to grow the acai palm tree, although there are definitely possibilities to grow them elsewhere.

Acai palm berries are known for their nutritional value - they have less pulp than a grape but are about 10x more healthy than grapes, pomengranates or any other anti oxidizing fruits. If you are looking to grow acai palm trees for yourself you may elect to buy acai seeds. Acai seeds are available from some online merchants but the best way to grow your own acai palm is by buying a tree that is already sprouting or at a very  young age. This will cut out costly time that it takes for the acai palm seeds to sprout into an acai palm tree.

You can also buy acai palm and acai palm trees, mostly from Brazilian sources. If you are trying to grow an acai palm tree outside of Brazil, good luck - but it will be very difficult to match the quality of the Amazon’s secret berry than that of it’s real original location.
